Russia’s Selenginskiy to launch sack kraft paper production, investing $90 million
Selenginskiy, the largest producer of unbleached sulphate pulp in Siberia, plans to launch production of sack kraft paper, with an investment of Rouble 6 billion ($90.3 million), according to Timur Budaev, director of the management company TOR Buryatia, a unit of the Far East Development Corporation.
Budaev said in a statement that relevant permit applications had been prepared and were being considered by the Russian Ministry of Eastern Development.
In the first half of 2019, Selenginskiy Pulp and Cardboard Mill’s revenues increased by 22.2%, exceeding Rouble 2.74 billion. The plant currently specializes in the production of containerboard and wood-based products. In January-June 2018, its net profit, according to RAS, rose 4.7% to Rouble 214.4 million. Revenue was up 26.3%, to Rouble 2.2 billion.
Selenginskiy supplies products to food processing, chemical, construction, medical and many other industries in Russia, as well as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and China.
