Russia is increasing production of pulp and paper products

May 13, 2020

The development of the global economic crisis did not have a decisive effect on the dynamics of production. The demand for basic Russian export PPI products did not show a significant decrease. At the same time, due to the effect of “rush demand” in certain market segments, the production of some goods has noticeably increased. In addition, the use of available stocks of raw materials allowed the pulp and paper mills to reduce the pressure of rising foreign exchange prices on imported goods.

Indices of the pulp and paper industry production and printing activity show that in Q1 2020, 2.2 million tons of pulp (+5.1% vs Q1 2019) and 2.4 million tons of paper and cardboard (+5% vs Q1 2019) were produced in Russia.
