President Vladimir Putin and Krasnoyarsk Krai Governor Alexander Uss discussed the construction of a pulp and paper mill in the region on Monday, July 30.

Earlier it was reported that the timber holding Segezha Group will make a decision to build a pulp and paper mill costing from one and a half to three billion dollars in Krasnoyarsk Krai before the end of the year.
During the meeting, the transcript of which was published on the Kremlin's official website, Uss noted that there is a "serious forestry problem" in the region.

"This is the "thrombus "of our forestry sector - the absence of a modern pulp and paper mill. Today there are already three initiative groups, and most likely the decision to build the pulp and paper mill during the second half of this year will be taken," said Uss during the meeting with Vladimir Putin.

"Accordingly, the amount of investment - and this is a large-scale thing - from 1.5 to 2 billion dollars. There are also some topics that allow us to reach this figure," the governor added.

According to his words, active work is under way on the organizational chart for accompanying this investment project." Before August, 15 we must prepare a draft government order together with our federal counterparts. We believe that the project will sound, and indeed, it can become the main driver of what we call the eastern vector," Uss noted.
